Barcelona are in significant risk of losing midfield star Gavi, who has a release clause in his contract that Liverpool wants to activate in January. According to El Nacional, a Spanish news outlet, this information has arrived (via International Business Times).

Gavi is the most recent star to emerge from Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy. The 17-year-old midfielder has already won four caps for the Spanish national team and is a first-team regular for Blaugrana. Barcelona, on the other hand, is in danger of losing their starlet due to their Champions League failures.

Liverpool are preparing to activate the €50 million release clause in Gavi's Barcelona contract, according to the aforementioned source. Due to his young age, the Reds consider him as an excellent long-term investment. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has put the 17-year-old midfielder on his January wish list. Barcelona was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in Germany. According to ESPN, a number of Barcelona players have put their contract discussions on hold as a result of the club's withdrawal from Europe's top club championship.

Barcelona had previously extended Ansu Fati and Pedri's contracts, which carry a €1 billion release clause. Should Gavi choose to sign a contract with the Catalan giants, they want to do the same.

In comparison to their Premier League competitors, Liverpool has remained relatively quiet in the summer window. Ibrahima Konate, who arrived from RB Leipzig for about €40 million, was the Reds' only summer signing.

Barcelona is known for giving young players an opportunity in the first team. Gavi, Pedri, Nico, and Ansu Fati have all recently been granted regular first-team action by the Catalan giants.

Liverpool has also begun to give their young players first-team opportunities. It is, however, a fraction of what Barcelona has invested in their youth prospects throughout the years.

Curtis Jones, Neco Williams, Harvey Elliott, and Caoimhin Kelleher have all played first-team football for Liverpool on a regular basis. Tyler Morton, a youngster, recently made his first-team debut for the Reds. In Liverpool's past two Champions League matches against FC Porto and AC Milan, the 19-year-old midfielder has also played the complete 90 minutes.

Unlike Barcelona, Jurgen Klopp prefers to use his youth team in games where he wants his first team to relax.
